Con Sheehan to make a step up this Saturday
Con Sheehan [2(0)-0] fights for the second time in quick succession on Saturday night, and it wont just be a keep-busy bout
The Tipperary heavyweight fights on a Dennis Hobson-promotions show at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester and is already beginning to move to the next stage of his career.
On Saturday the Peter Fury-trained Sheehan will fight in an eight-round contest, becoming title-eligible in what will be just his third fight.
The Clonmel big man’s opponent this weekend will be Czechian Radek Varak [3(1)-5(2)]. The 39 year old comes into the bout off the back of an upset win over debutant Lee Carter earlier this month.
27 year old Sheehan fights again on October 23rd in Leicester, and his move up to eight-rounds this weekend also raises the possibility of an Irish title fight on the November 5th Belfast Boxnation show.
Con The Bomb boxed for the first time in nine months last weekend, claiming a comfortable four-round points win over Croat Igor Mihaljevic in Solihull on an MGM Birmingham show.
