Con Sheehan’s fight on Thursday cancelled

There was frustration today for Con Sheehan after it emerged that his scheduled fight this Thursday has been shelved.

The Tipperary giant was pencilled in to fight debutant Lonnie Collins at The Hangar in Orange County. However, Sheehan now finds himself off the card after his opponent withdrew and no suitable replacement could be found.

The 25 year old announced the disappointing news this afternoon via social media.

Sheehan, who is managed by Gary Hyde and trained by Virgil Hunter, has relocated to California for his assault on the professional game on the US West Coast.

Now a training partner of former World champions Amir Khan, Andre Berto, and Andre Ward, Sheehan certainly finds himself in an enviable position across the Atlantic. Indeed the Irishman has impressed in his top-class surroundings during his time in America.

The six-time Elite champion’s pro journey got over to the perfect start last month with a dominant four-round points win over Jonathan Rice in Los Angeles.

While he will be annoyed by this cancellation, there are plans for the Munster man-mountain to return to the ring in the near future and quickly continue his education as he looks to move through the ranks at a good pace.
