An opponent has been named for Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan’s comeback bout next month.

The Cork knockout artist has been out of action since perforating his ear-drum for the third time in two and a half years during his retirement loss against Chris Eubank Jr last December.

The Leesider, a former Irish champion, is now aiming to make the move down to light middleweight and will continue this process on Saturday September 17th. O’Sullivan will be returning to the US East Coast to box on the Dropkick Murphys’s ‘Irish Festival’ at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford alongside fellow Irish fighters Steve Collins Jr and TJ Doheny.

32 year old O’Sullivan [22(15)-2(1)] will headline the boxing portion of the card alongside Murphy’s stablemate Mark DeLuca.

On his return Spike will face Florida fighter Marquis Davis [8(5)-1(0)-2]. The 27 year old has been out of action since January 2014 where he lost his unbeaten record to World-rated Antoine Douglas.

O’Sullivan will look to shake off any ring rust which may have accumulated since his last bout and then continue his quest for a clash with Anthony Ogogo.
