Comeback date set for Paddy Gallagher following broken jaw

Paddy Gallagher [13(8)-4(0)] will return from a broken jaw this Autumn.

The Belfast welterweight had been set for a big fight in June versus recent World and upcoming British title challenger Gary Corcoran but was forced to pull out after suffering a broken jaw in one of his final spars.

Broken in two places, Gallagher has made a rapid recovery and will now return to the ring less than four months later having been tonight announced for the Friday October 5th Belfast BoxNation bill at the Titanic Exhibition Centre.

Headlined by a big heavyweight clash between Sean Turner and David Price and an all-Irish super featherweight match-up between Marco McCullough and Declan Geraghty, Gallagher will shake out the rust and test the jaw on the undercard.

The 29-year-old last fought in April, losing a tight split-decision to Brad Solomon in Kentucky in the quarter-finals of the Jose Sualaiman WBC Invitational and is keen to return to big fights soon.

Gallagher features on the undercard in six weeks time alongside Conrad Cummings, Steven Ward, Padraig McCrory, and Tyrone McCullagh.
