Chris Blaney to fight Pitbull this Friday
Chris Blaney [1(1)-0] will be able to measure his performance on Friday night in Walsall against some of the biggest domestic names.
The Ginger Ninja boxes in a short-notice four-round bout at Banks’s Stadium on a Hatton Promotions card and it has been announced that the Navan super middleweight will face Kiril Psonko [15(10)-39(12)].
The Lithuanian journeyman was a debut opponent for both George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr, taking Groves the full six while being stopped in the fourth by Eubank. The Baltic boxer was also an early opponent for former Celtic Warrior Frank Buglioni, posing him some trouble in an eight rounder which went the distance, while he has also been blasted out inside a round by Callum Smith.
Recently, Olympic light heavyweight bronze medalist and Joe Ward-defeater Mathieu Bauderlique also scored a first round knockout of Psonko.
‘The Pitbull’ also has Irish previous, having been involved in tight affairs with Dubliners Anthony Fitzgerald (38-39 loss) and Brendan Fitzpatrick (56-58 loss), while also being knocked out in the fourth by Jamie Power.
Whether Psonko’s nickname is derived from his resemblance to the Miami rapper, or if it merely coincidental, is currently unconfirmed.
