Chris Arreola: Tyson Fury is the #1 Heavyweight
Chris Arreola [36(31)-4(2)] attempts to win the WBC heavyweight title next Saturday night, but the American believes that lineal champion Tyson Fury is ‘the man’ in the division.
The Nightmare takes on champion Deontay Wilder [36(35)-0] in the Bronze Bomber’s home state of Alabama, live on Fox Sports. On this side of the Atlantic, the Premier Boxing Champions headline bout will be shown live on Sky Sports 1.
Ahead of the clash Arreola spoke to Ringside on Sky Sports and admitted that “I like the Gypsy King [Fury].”
“He’s very funny, he talks a lot of cr*p, he’s brash.”
Indeed it’s not just the former Irish champion’s eccentric personality that Arreola is fond of, and the Californian was highly complementary of his win over Klitschko last November in Duesseldorf, explaining that “he came and he gave Klitschko the fight he wasn’t expecting.”
“He came in there prepared and I believe the same thing happens second time around, and I believe he beats Klitschko again.”
Of all three current heavyweight champs, Arreola feels Fury is top of the pile over former Olympic medalists Anthony Joshua [IBF] and Deontay Wilder [WBC], arguing that “he [Fury] has the experience, that’s the main thing, and the fact that he has fought better opponents, much better opponents, he’s fought Klitschko.”
“Who did Joshua beat to win the championship? Martin? Martin who? Nobody knew who that guy was.”
“Deontay Wilder, yes he’s a good fighter, yes he’s defended his title, but he hasn’t fought the competiton that the Gypsy King has”
