Carroll vows to do damage with 8oz gloves on big Sky card
JONO Carroll is feeling more ‘King Kong’ than ever and while he isn’t planing to smash up an entire city tomorrow he is planning to do damage in Manchester.
The Matchroom super featherweight takes on Barrington Brown on the Scott Quigg v Kiko Martinez undercard tomorrow night in his second fight since winning Prizefighter and is predicting a power punching performance.
The Celtic Warrior Gym fighter, who shot onto the scence with victory over Declan Geraghty last November, goes into the bout with just one stoppage in seven fights, but believes he is ready to add some KO’s to his record.
Indeed, the talkative Dubliner, claims he is hitting that hard in sparring he has been sporting extra padding in his gloves in the lead up to this fight.
“I am planing on banging an awful lot harder than I have in my previous fights with the strength and conditioning,” he told Irish-boxing.com.
“In sparring with Stephen (Ormond) we have to wear 18 oz gloves because we are hitting that hard imagine what will happen when I get the 8 oz gloves on. I just can’t wait to land with those 8 oz gloves and see the damage I am going to cause. I am so much stronger than I have ever been before,” he added before discussing his quick rise to prominence.
“I am still under 10 fights and there is a lot of ranting and raving about me and fighting on big bills and Sky Sports is part of that.”
