Carl Frampton enters pound-for-pound Top 10

Carl Frampton has entered the pound-for-pound Top 10 with boxing’s most respected rankings board.

Following his WBA featherweight title-winning performance against Leo Santa Cruz on Saturday, The Transnational Boxing Ranking’s Board have installed ‘The Jackal’ at #7 on their pound-for-pound list.

Frampton has also entered the TBRB’s featherweight rankings at #1. The Champion slot in this division is vacant and Frampton would need to defeat the #2-ranked fighter Simphiwe Vetyeka to become the board’s recognised champion. This is the only way the Belfast man can be considered the division’s champion.

The TBRB have become the sport’s authoritative voice in terms of rankings following the commercial comprimisation of The Ring, who are now owned by Golden Boy Promotions, and their heavily-criticised change of policy which allows the crowning of a division’s champ if either of the #1 or #2 ranked fighters face any of the #3, #4, or #5 ranked boxers.

The TBRB Pound-for-Pound Top 10 is:
1. Roman Gonzalez
2. Sergey Kovalev
3. Terence Crawford
4. Gennady Golovkin
5. Juan Francisco Estrada
6. Andre Ward
7. Carl Frampton
8. Timothy Bradley
9. Guillermo Rigondeaux
10. Naoya Inoue

The TBRB Featherweight Top 10 is:
Champion: Vacant
1 Carl Frampton
2 Simpiwe Vetyeka
3 Lee Selby
4 Gary Russell Jr.
5 Leo Santa Cruz
6 Oscar Valdez
7 Abner Mares
8 Jesus Marcelo Andres Cuellar
9 Joseph Diaz Jr.
10 Oscar Escandon
