Carl Frampton accepts Santa Cruz challenge – ‘I’m Ready!’
Carl Frampton is keen to take Leo Santa Cruz up on his offer of a cross-Atlantic showdown.
The Mexican-American, a three-weight World champion, issued a challenge to Carl Frampton on Saturday night following his successful defence of his featherweight crown against former Jackal foe Kiko Martinez.
Hours previously in Manchester, following his own World title win against England’s Scott Quigg, Frampton told media that he was open to a clash with ‘El Terremotto’ as well as WBA ‘champion in recess’ Guillermo Rigondeaux.
This morning Frampton has removed all doubt as to who is his preferred next opponent with the following tweet to Santa Cruz
Well done to Leo Santa Cruz and commiserations to my friend Kiko Martinez. Fancy a summer showdown @leosantacruz2? I'm ready 👊

Frampton, who is Ireland’s first ever unified World champion, wold be aiming to become the island’s first two-weight World champ since Steve Collins.
