Byrne steps in for Gavin

Unbeaten Irishman Dean Byrne will now headline the show tomorrow night at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester.
Dubliner Byrne, now based in London, takes on tough Frenchman Frank Haroche Horta over twelve rounds in an International welterweight contest following the unexplained withdrawal of Frankie Gavin.
Birmingham’s Gavin was scheduled to face Horta in a defence of his WBO Intercontinental title, but Gavin unexplainably pulled out of the contest this morning and left his Manchester Hotel base.
The show will be televised live on BoxNation (Sky Platform Ch. 456) and rising star Byrne is excited with his unexpected opportunity to top the card and show his potential.
Also on the card is the exciting unbeaten welterweight prospect Ronnie Heffron and former Commonwealth Light-Middleweight Champion Matthew Hall making his big return.
“Irish Lightning” Byrne, who has fought mainly in Australia and America, had his first fight for promoter Frank Warren last Friday night at the York Hall, beating Michael Frontin over eight rounds.
“This is a fantastic opportunity that has been put my way to top the show and I’m looking forward to putting on a good performance for the fans,” said Byrne.
“I’m based in the UK now and I want to build my fan base here as I progress towards the world title,”
“Horta looks tough, he’s got a good record and he’s never been stopped in 39 fights so I’m looking to do a good job on him,”
“He’s fit and ready to fight as he had Gavin lined up and I’m in top shape as I only boxed last week so it will be a good tough fight while it lasts.”
