Butler is ‘different gravy’ says Conlan target’s Belfast stablemate
‘Bulter is different gravy’ claims Ciaran McVarnock when asked about a potential match up between his stable mate and fellow Belfast man Jamie Conlan.
‘Bunty’, who trains alongside the Liverpool man that is on a collision course with Conlan at Anthony Farnell’s Gym, claims all in Manchester have been impressed with ‘The Mexican’, but believe their man is on a different level than the unbeaten Belfast super flyweight.
The novice super featherweight with the inside track says the feeling within Arnie’s Gym is the former IBF bantamweight World champion would have too much for the MGM man.
“Arnie and Paul thought Conlan performed well in Dublin (vs Junior Granados) and Arnie was ringside watching it. Both Arnie and Paul are great guys and will always give credit where credit is due. They have said good things about Conlan especially in regard to that night and his performance,” McVarnock told Irish-boxing.com
“In saying that, as we watched Paul the week after you could see Paul is different gravy. Boxing is all about levels and we all in the gym believe Paul is levels ahead of Conlan.”
McVarnock didn’t reveal whether or not talks between both camps had taken place, but did indicate the fight is bound to happen.
“It’s a fight that could happen very soon. It’s one that is easy to make with the Frank Warren and MGM connection. Both fighters want it. All the fans want it. They are both chasing that world title shot and it’s a perfect fight to make before either one of them fight for that World title.”
