Busy Sean McComb takes aim at “fat sh*te” Paddy Barnes
It’s been a long long year for Sean McComb, but the likeable lightweight isn’t complaining.
Instead, the Holy Trinity boxer prefers to poke fun at his fellow Belfast Boy, Paddy Barnes.
McComb has been forced to continually and – almost unbelievably, considering his 6 foot frame – make the 60kg lightweight limit throughout a year where he has had to contend with the European Games, the World Championships, and 2 National Senior Championships.
Indeed the slick southpaw would be forgiven for being jealous of the Olympic-qualified Barnes who has not had to make weight since April, but McComb instead joked to irish-boxing.com that “Paddy is just a fat sh*te – he’s heavier than me at the minute!”
McComb, who faces David Oliver Joyce in Friday’s National Elite final, believes that the double Olympic bronze medalist is in no position to mock him “since he’s the ugliest out of all the Belfast Boys!”
The European Games bronze medalist however had kind words for another one of the Belfast Boys, and explained how Mick Conlan is now entitled to some downtime, reasoning that “Mick deserves a break as he’s a real World champion…..”
Although McComb couldn’t resist throwing in one final trademark rangey jab at his close pal and number one boxer in this season’s WSB:
“….as opposed to Paddy who is just a fake one!”
