Breen: Conlan is on the verge of something special win this and he is in World title mix
IF ‘The Mexican’ beats the his Philippine opponent in Belfast next weekend the world is his oyster, claims John Breen.
Belfast super flyweight Jamie ‘The Mexican’ Conlan faces Daryly Basadre for the WBO Inter-Continental title on the massive Titanic Showdown card on Saturday September 6 and Breen believes victory will put him on the verge of a World title shot.
Breen claims his charge has by passed the British title, a strap he was frustratingly denied the chance to challenge for- and claims a win next Saturday will put him in the mix in an organisation that has Omar Narvaez as super champ and Daniela Romina Bermudez as Champion. It is a massive turn around for a talent, who was so frustrated with a lack of action early last year that he considered retirement.
“He wins this he is in the top three or four in the world with the WBO,” Breen told the Belfast Newsletter.
“Jamie has by-passed the British title and we are in the mix for a shot for a World title, if he wins this fight. Basadre is from the Philippines and they are not known for producing bad fighters,” he added.
