Former Commonwealth champ “running scared” of Luke Keeler
Former Commonwealth champion Bradley Pryce turned down a ‘substantial’ offer to fight Luke Keeler in Dublin on November 5th.
Red Corner Promotions were hoping to bring in the 35 year old former British title challenger as an opponent for ‘Cool Hand’ in a BUI Celtic Warrior middleweight title fight at the National Stadium next month.
However, the promoters revealed that the Welsh fighter turned down the clash in favour of a York Hall-hosted rematch with prospect Justin Menzie, a rematch-demanding fighter he stopped last time out.
“We offered Bradley Pryce the chance to fight Luke for this title,” Red Corner’s Jonathan Graham told Irish-Boxing.com.
“We felt the offer made, which was substantial for the level of fight, would tempt him, but he chose to fight on a York Hall fight for less money in a clash he knows he will win.
“We offered Bradley Pryce a considerable amount of money, something which most of us wouldn’t even earn in two or three months.”
“Instead he’s elected to fight a novice, who’s only had four fights, at the York Hall for a quarter of the money – basically because he’s running scared of Luke.”
“We have other good opponents in mind for Luke and we hope to make an announcement soon.”
