The Boxing World’s Divided Reaction to Katie Taylor v Delfine Persoon
Katie Taylor claimed the undisputed lightweight title last night in New York but, for the first time in her pro career, there will be plenty discussed about the bout that has just gone rather than immediate looking forward.
The Wicklow woman edged Delfine Persoon on the narrowest of majority decisions and the verdict has caused controvery.
Many felt her Belgian foe did enough to win while others believe Taylor was a rightful victor.
The fight was one of the chief supports on the shocking Anthony Joshua v Andy Ruiz card at Madison Square Garden and played out live on DAZN and Sky Sports.
As such, the high profile clash has generated a lot of talk from some big names in the sport.
@KatieTaylor Congrats on becoming UNDISPUTED! The ultimate goal in boxing! 😉

I’m crying for Persoon. What a horrible feeling to be stripped of your well earned win due to the politics of boxing. And THIS is why, I’m ready to hang up my boxing gloves. @hillimpact
