How the boxing world reacted to Frampton’s win

In an exciting fight, Belfast’s Carl Frampton climbed from the canvas twice to win a comprehensive decision over Alejandro González Jr. at the Don Haskins Centre in El Paso, Texas.

The Premier Boxing Champions fight was shown terrestrially on both sides of the Atlantic to an audience of millions and Frampton is sure to have won himself a lot of new fans with what was an exciting, if imperfect, performance.

….

Here’s what ‘The Jackal’ and his team had to say after the fight:

Frampton’s friend and #1 fan gave great support throughout and after.

Frampton also won himself some big-name fans

Others noted the surprising quality of Alejandro González Jr.

Some however were left unimpressed.

1992 Olympic silver medalist, Wayne McCullough, did not like Frampton partly attributing him imperfect performance to the soft ring and trouble making weight

Guillermo Rigondeaux’s manager, Gary Hyde of Cork, was scathing

A personal favourite from the non-boxing community
