Big year ahead

8 February 2010 – By David Boyle

Undefeated lightweight Michael Kelly has had a tough professional career to say the least.

After enjoying a successful amateur career that included a World Military Championship, the Dundalk native has fond it difficult securing regular contests as a pro.

This saw him sitting on the sidelines in 2008. Since his return, Kelly has won two fights by KO and was unfortunate only to draw in a third contest. With years passing by, Kelly acknowledges that he must make a move in 2010 and an Irish title fight is at the top of his wishlist.

Having had a few fights last, year I have my confidence back and Im looking to make a impact in 2010, said Michael.

As such Kelly is keen to complete a pre-requisite eight round contest.

If I can get the eight rounder done early this year then it will leave me time to go for the Irish title this year.

Oisin Fagan has stated that he would fight me but first I need to get the eight rounder under my belt. I am back training at full flow and I am in great shape, sparring Andy Murray has me sharp as a razor.

Im willing to fight anyone. Just get me the fights and I will show you all what I can do.
