‘Big Sexy’ happy with Belfast points win and calls a halt to ‘Big Rogie’ feud
Sean Turner went past the fourth round as a pro for the first time on Saturday night in Belfast with little difficulty.
Big Sexy is normally one to hunt for the knockout, but the Dublin heavyweight was happy to go the full six with tough Croat Ivica Perkovic on the off-camera portion of the ‘Homecoming’ undercard at the Titanic Exhibition Centre.
Using his often-underrated boxing skills more than anything else, the 25 year old secured a 60:54 win to move to 9(6)-0.
Describing the win afterwards to Irish-Boxing.com, Turner expressed his satisfaction that he was in with “a tough opponent, very durable and clever. I got six good rounds in, all good, I’m happy enough with the performance and getting the rounds under the belt which I needed, badly.”
Fighting in Belfast for the first time since his 2014 debut, Turner had hoped for some pantomime back-and-forths with local favourite Martin Rogan. However, with ‘Big Rogie’ not in attendance, ‘Big Sexy’ feels it is time to call an end to his online feud with the former Commonwealth champion and move on to chase other fights.
Turner admitted that “I think I’m going to just forget about that fight [Rogan] now. I’m getting more stick for calling him out when he’s meant to be retired than anything else, so we’ll leave him to it to do whatever he is doing.”
