Benn won’t be able to be ‘at peace’ until he fights Steve Collins

Nigel Benn cannot “live at peace” until he scratches a massive itch and has comeback fight against Steve Collins.

Benn recently revealed that he had agreed to fight Steve Collins, almost 21 years on from their last fight.

Considering the pair are 53 and 52 years old respectively, the proposed match up has been criticised by the British Boxing Board of Control, but  Benn claims he contacted Dubliner Collins and agreed a fight as he seeks to gain “closure.”

A fight between ‘The Dark Destroyer’ and Chris Eubank Sr had long been discussed but, following negotiating difficulties with the Brighton boxer, Benn has turned to ‘The Celtic Warrior’ and has found a willing dance partner.

Benn retired following two losses to the Irish fight legend and his son Conor claims his father won’t be able to find peace until he fights again.

“He just has that itch, that fight is in him,” Benn told Sky Sports News HQ.

“People say you have got to come from the baddest ghetto and do all this. No, he has achieved everything, but that fight is in him – and it’s not going anywhere.

“Unless he has this fight, I don’t think he could live at peace.”

While Benn’s fighting son, Conor has been somewhat supportive, recent Irish title challenger Stevie Collins Jr took a more humorous approach when discussing his father’s decision to fight.
