Belfast KO artist confirmed for Burnett-Zhakiyanov undercard
Tomorrow afternoon at the Europa Hotel we will learn the full details of the undercard for the Ryan Burnett v Zhanat Zhakiyanov undercard.
The Antrim Road man puts his IBF bantamweight title on the line in a unification with WBA champ Zhakiyanov on Saturday October 21st at the SSE Odyssey Arena.
So far, an Irish lightweight title fight between Paul Hyland Jr and Steve Ormond, and a light welterweight battle between Tyrone McKenna and Tommy Coyle are the only support fights confirmed for the bill.
However there is also one other fighter who will definitely feature in just over seven weeks time.
Belfast super feather James Tennyson [19(15)-2(2)] has been confirmed for the bill and will look to build on two impressive wins so far in 2017.
Tennyson, who turned 24 this month, reclaimed the Irish title with a stoppage win over Declan Geraghty in March before bludgeoning Ryan Doyle into submission on the previous Matchroom Belfast bill. The second win saw him claim the WBA International belt and the #5 spot in the organisation’s rankings.
The Poleglass puncher’s opponent will be revealed, in person, at tomorrow’s press conference – suggesting that it will be a domestic opponent of note.
One man it will, unfortunately, not be is Belfast rival Anto Cacace [15(7)-1(0)], with the Andersonstown boxer’s manager Pat Magee confirming to Irish-Boxing.com that a fight between ‘The Apache’ and Tennyson will not be next.
