Belfast boxer wins BoxNation Punch of the Month following big KO

For the second time this year, a heavy hitting Belfast boxer has won the BoxNation punch of the month.

Back in March, Poleglass super featherweight James Tennyson [19(15)-2(2)] won the accolade for his sixth-round knockdown of Declan Geraghty in their Irish title clash at the Waterfront Hall.

Today the June award was handed to South Belfast welterweight Lewis Crocker [2(2)-0] for his flattening of Bulgarian Radoslav Mitev, also at the Waterfront Hall.

The Bulagarian was seen as an early step up for ‘The Croc,’ but the 20 year old put the dangerous journeyman away in the second with a straight left.

The fight took place early on the BoxNation ‘Battle of Belfast’ bill, before the live broadcast. However, such was the outcry that the Immanuel BA man would not be shown, it was ensured that the cameras were on to catch the doozy of a stoppage.

Crocker will be looking to add another highlight-reel stoppage to his record this Saturday at the SSE Odyssey Arena when he fights on the Carl Frampton v Andres Gutierrez undercard.
