Bates: I am a much improved fighter-I am gunning for McComb
GEORGE Bates is gunning for Sean McComb and is ready to avenge his 2013 final defeat in this weeks National Elite Senior Championship finals.
Bates progressed to the decider with victory over Gary Cully last Friday night and is confident mood ahead of his rematch with the Belfast puncher.
There is no bad between the pair, who share the ring during High Performance sparring on a regular basis, but Bates claims he is much improved in two years and is in confident mood ahead of what promises to be an intriguing final.
“I am delighted with how I performed. He is a very tall and rangy boxer, but I think I dealt with it well. I knew I had the fitness to out work him too.
“I am feeling very confident going into the final. He beat me before in the final back in 2013 but this time it will be different. I am gunning for him. Since 2013 I have come on ten fold. I am a much better boxer. I have better movement, more shots and I am improved all round.”
