Barnes open to pro offers and ready to call out Zou Shiming
PADDY Barnes says if the right deal is put on the table he will sign pro terms.
The most accomplished champion to fight in the recent Commonwealth Games made history by winning consecutive golds and once again showed why he is deemed one of the best amateur super flyweights on the planet.
That ability to fight aligned with the ability to generate publicity and respect whilst accumulating fans means promoters should be keen to sign up the Irish star.
Barnes is open to offers, but warns any contract would have to be right for him and his family.
“I’ve always stated I’m interested in going professional. I still need to pay the mortgage. Eddie Hearn, Top Rank, Golden Boy, anybody. It doesn’t have to be Eddie Hearn. It’s all about the right deal. Let’s get real, boxing’s not a sport, it’s a business. I’m a family man and I’ve got a young kid and boxing is a way of making money,” said Barnes before indicating a rematch between him and former Olympic foe and current Top Rank cash cow Zou Shiming is another reason promoters should be knocking down his door.
“A fight between me and Zou Shiming in China would be massive. I need to start calling him out now. I would love to turn pro. The atmosphere whenever Carl Frampton fights is unbelievable. And I want to fight in front of that every time.”
