Barnes makes successful start to Commonwealth defense and stops foe
PADDY Barnes made an impressive start to his Commonwealth Gold defence in Glasgow today.
The Belfast fight favourite progressed to the quarter-finals stopping Hamadi Furahisha of Tanzania.
Barnes claimed a technical knock-out win after the referee put Furahisha out of his misery 2:06 into the third round.
The double Olympic bronze medalist, took the first round comfortably, before dominating his opponent in the second.
The referee called a halt to the bout with just under a minute left on the clock in the third round.
