Award nomination for Wizard of Oz Dennis Hogan

Kildare light middleweight Dennis Hogan [22(7)-0-1] has been nominated for a prestigious award in his adopted homeland of Australia. ‘The Hurricane’ has been nominated for the ‘Nigel Benn Fighter of the Year’ at the inaugural Aus-Boxing.com awards.

It has been a great year for Hogan who made his TV debut in America when he won the WBA-NABA title in April with a win over Tyron Brunson in April live on Fox Sports. The Irishman then defended this title, again live on Fox Sports, in June with victory against Kenny Abril in New York.

Hogan was then given a shot at the WBA interim title against former World amateur champ Jack Culcay but the September 26th date was postponed due to undercard issues and will now take place on December 5th in Hamburg.

The awards show takes place five days later, on December 10th, in Melbourne, and Hogan’s opposition here comes in the form of super middleweight Zac Dunn [19(15)-0] and welterweight Jeff Horn [12(8)-0-1].
