Avalos warms up for Frampton with KO win
THE mandatory challenger for Carl Frampton’s IBF super bantamweight World title Chris Avalos registered a knock out victory in Texas on Satruday night.
Avalos, who was also mandatory for Guillermo Rigondeaux’s WBO title, had hoped to challenge ‘The Jackal’ before 2014 was out, but Frampton was given extra grace after injuring his hands in his one sided dethroning of Kiko Martinez in September.
As a result the American with a record of 25-2-0 elected to take a keep busy warm up fight and traded leather Stateside over the weekend.
The 25 year old ‘Hitman’ as expected defeated Jose Cen Torres stopping him in the fifth round.
Although nothing has been confirmed Avalos is expected to come to Belfast in the Spring to challenge Ireland’s only World champion.
