Assassin plotting Moylette Mayo return – title homecoming for Sugar Ray?
Assassin Promotions are considering going into the west and bringing Ray Moylette home before the year is out.
Having traveled the world in his first year as a pro ‘Sugar Ray’ is keen on a homecoming and is desperate to fight in Mayo.
The 27-year-old lightweight prospect has built up a Boston fanbase thanks to some entertaining displays on Murphys Boxing cards but has recently claimed there is no place like home.
His managers are on board with bringing boxing back to Mayo and are exploring the possibility of a Moylette title fight in his home county before the year is one.
“Ray will fight at the end of June in Boston. They last one was supposed to be for a title fight, but it got changed because they wanted to do a six rounder hoping it would get TV,” Assassin Boxing’s Conor Slater told Irish-Boxing.com before discussing the home coming Moylette has called for.
“We want to do a homecoming for him. We sat down and we wanted to do a BUI Celtic title fight in the Summer for Ray and then look at Mayo, but I think Sean Creagh is fighting for the [light welterweight] Celtic title.”
“If he wins then we might not be able to do that fight with MTK not allowing him to fight in Ireland. That might change and that would be a good fight.”
“If that can’t be made maybe we could go straight to the Irish title for Ray. Ray and Sean would be a good fight, but hopefully we can get Ray a title fight in December in Mayo. That is not me saying we are doing a show in December in Mayo, but Ray wants to fight there so we are looking at it. I also know TG4 have looked at that as well.”
