Anto Cacace open to short-notice Jono Carroll clash

There are big plans in the pipeline for Belfast’s Anto Cacace, but the Andersonstown super featherweight is willing to take a short notice fight in his home town.

Cacace [15(7)-1(0)] is in camp for a big fight, which is still to be announced formally, next month – however he is open to jumping into a massive domestic clash on just 10 days notice.

Earlier today it was confirmed that Declan Geraghty has pulled out of his big rematch with Jono Carroll [14(1)-0] next Saturday [November 18th] at the SSE Odyssey Arena, live on BT Sport as part of the ‘Frampton Reborn’ undercard.

Mack The Knife Global, who manage both Carroll and Geraghty, have promised a top quality replacement for King Kong to be announced shortly – and a number of fans have suggested that Cacace should step in to the breach.

The BBBoC Celtic champion, a title which Carroll is eligible to fight for, has revealed that he has a big fight coming up.

Nevertheless, Cacace admits that an all-southpaw clash with the unbeaten Carroll would appeal in what would be his first fight back since being narrowly outpointed by Martin J Ward for the British and Commonwealth titles during the Summer.

Cacace told Irish-Boxing.com that “I’m back in training for a fight early December, I’m fighting a big fight early December but, if everything was right, I’d happily box Jono!”

“Jono is a great lad and a solid fighter, I personally think I win the fight, but hopefully time will tell.”
