Another new addition to Belfast BoxNation show

The announcements are coming thick and fast for the Belfast BoxNation show this Summer.

Tonight a sixth Irish fighter has been confirmed for the Saturday June 17th bill at the Waterfront Hall.

Newtownabbey light heavyweight Steven Ward [3(0)-0] will box for the fourth time on the big bill, following wins at the same venue and the Titanic Centre, interspersed with a win on a dinner show in Coventry.

Last time out the Commonwealth Games silver medalist was left without an opponent until the last minute before eventually outpointed entertaining journeyman Curtis Gargano, clocking in an impressively disciplined performance in doing so.

The fight in just over seven weeks time will see the Oliver Harrison-trained prospect make the step up to six rounds for the first time at what is a relatively early juncture in the 27 year old’s career.

Ward joins Lewis Crocker, Jamie Conlan, debutant David Oliver Joyce, and a lightweight scrap between Steve Ormond and Craig Evans on the Paddy Barnes-headlined bill.

More announcements, and ticket details, are expected in the coming days.
