Another All-Irish grudge match added to MGM November 7th show

MGM’s upcoming show at the National Stadium is fast becoming one of the most anticipated in recent memory with the news that there will be another All-Irish grudge match to join Peter McDonagh-Dean Byrne.

The Spanish outfit today announced that veteran cruiserweights Michael ‘The Storm’ Sweeney and Ian Tims will have their long anticipated rematch on the Jamie Conlan-topped bill.

The pair will battle it out over ten rounds for the BBBoC Celtic Title and, perhaps more importantly, bragging rights.

The duo first met in 2011 for the Irish Title, with Tims winning a tight (97-95) decision. The pair were meant to fight last year at the 3Arena on the Macklin-topped Matchroom show – and the lead-up was quite heated – but Mayo man Sweeney was forced to withdraw through injury.

Ahead of the bout, Sweeney gave his thoughts on the match-up “I’m delighted to be back fighting again and matched up with Ian Tims.”

“Unfortunately last November I got injured and had to pull out. Ian beat me in 2011 in a close fight but I need to turn that around.”

“This is a fight Ireland wants to see!”

Tims was short and sweet in his appraisal of the rematch, noting that he is “Delighted to get this fight again,” and that it’s “Time to blow the storm away.”

All fights from MGM’s return to Dublin will be shown exclusively live on Boxnation TV (Sky channel 437).
