Andy Lee to fight future Hall of Famer Miguel Cotto this June?
Andy Lee will face none other than future Hall of Famer Miguel Cotto in Madison Square Garden this coming June, according to the boxing rumour mill.
Lee last week discussed a Summer return having lost his WBO middleweight title to Billy Joe Saunders last December.
The Limerick man, 31, didn’t discuss opponent or venue, but did suggest the fight would be big enough to move him back into mandatory position for his old title.
Tentative rumours today suggest that four-weight World champion Cotto could provide the opposition and Madison Square Garden.
Cotto has always been a puncher Lee has been open to fighting, but the much loved-fighter’s trainer Freddie Roach has always worried about matching Cotto with Lee.
However, the Puerto Rican is coming off a defeat himself having lost his WBC middleweight title to Saul Alvarez in November.
