Andy Lee ready to impress as he makes a return to ‘the big time’

ANDY Lee makes a welcome return to the ‘big time’ in Madison Square Garden on June 7.

The Limerick talent takes on the son of three-time world champion Julian ā€˜The Hawkā€™ Jackson, John Jackson in a WBC light middleweight world titleĀ eliminator.

In just his second fight at light middleweight the former middleweight title challenger can become mandatory for a title currently held by Floyd Mayweather.

The Adam Booth trained puncher’s first dalliance at light middle wasn’t his most convincing display, but the former Olympian is ready to shine in the spot light on the under card of Sergio Martinezā€™s mouth-watering clash with Miguel Cotto live on HBO.

He told the Irish Examiner: ā€œIā€™ve fought at Madison Square Garden twice, and it feels like Iā€™ll be back to the big time ā€“ where I belong.

ā€œIā€™ve been away from the spotlight since I lost to Julio Cesar Chavez in 2012 but I have been rebuilding and now Iā€™m back to prove it.

ā€œThis is an eliminator so it will move the winner right up there to fight for the WBC belt, which Floyd Mayweather has at the moment,ā€ he added before discussing his opponent.

Ā ā€œIā€™ve watched him on YouTube. Heā€™s a good fighter who knows what heā€™s doing, can punch, box and likes to fight a bit. Heā€™s going to be there in front of me and I expect a hard fight.ā€
