Andy Lee foresees Golovkin knockout
Andy Lee doesn’t believe that we are in for a shock when Kell Brook challenges Gennady Golovkin in London live on Sky Box Office.
Limerick’s Lee was one of the few top-level middleweights willing to face the fearsome Kazakh, agreeing to a fight in 2014 which was later cancelled due to the death of Golovkin’s father.
With available opponents in the 160lbs class thin on the ground, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook has come into the frame. Applauded by most for his bravery, there has also been a noticeable groundswell of support for a Brook victory in recent days, with many pointing to the so-called ‘Sky Sports effect’
Lee on the other hand is certain of a victory for the WBA, WBC, and IBF middleweight champion.
The southpaw told Irish-Boxing.com that “I think there’s only one winner.”
“It’s only going to end one way, with a Golovkin win, probably by stoppage.”
The former WBO middleweight champ however doesn’t believe it will be a complete demolition, and he stated that “I think Brook can give him trouble for a few rounds because he’s got better mobility and better movement – but I don’t think he can hold off Golovkin.”
