America will go crazy for Ormond and propel him toward a World title says Collins
Stephen Ormond will be propelled toward World title honours by the clamour American fight fans will make once the see him claims Pascal Collins.
Ormond has teamed up with Murphy’s Boxing, who have guided Spike O’Sullivan to NABA middleweight title success, and fights Stateside on October 10.
‘The Rock’ got within one win of a World title shot under Frank Warren losing an eliminator to now titlist Terry Flanagan, but Collins believes Ormond won’t have to wait long before securing a shot.
His coach, who was based in America for years and has good contacts Stateside, says the Americans will ‘go crazy’ for Ormond and will nigh on demand to see him in big fights.
“You can take it as fact the Americans will love Stephen Ormond. They will go crazy for him once they see him fight on October 10. They will see him as an Gatti, but with a better defence and will love that,” Collins said.
“He was already at World level here and was close before losing to Flanagan, who is now a World Champ. If the fans take to him and with the Murphy’s boxing link it could propel him to big fights quick. He can really get to the next stage now. I think he has the talent and will win a World Championship.”
“Spike is out there and they already took to him and he has benefited. They love his personality and the fact he goes all out to hurt people.”
“Both of them are in London to support Frank Buglioni this weekend and will spar here before going home to train for a week before we head to America for the October 10 clash.”
