Nine senior champions have been named in a 19 strong squad for a week long training and conditioning camp at the University of Ulster in Jordanstown.
World champions Katie Taylor and Ray Moylette have been called up to the panel which left for Ulster this morning. The training and conditioning camp is part of the IABAs preparations for the 2009 European Union Senior Championships and 2009 AIBA World Senior Championships in Denmark and Milan this year.
Ireland have won seven gold and four silver medals at European Union Championship level in the last two years. The 2009 European Union Senior Championships will be held in Odense, Denmark between June 14-21. The 2009 AIBA World Senior Championships will be held in Milan between August 29th and September 13.
James Moore, son of IABA High Performance coach Jim Moore, was the last Irish boxer to medal at World Championships level after he claimed bronze in Belfast in 2001.
