Watch: Paddy Donovan’s first round debut knockout victory

Paddy Donovan [1(1)-0] announced himself on the pro boxing scene in spectacular fashion on Friday night.

The Top Rank fighter made his pro bow on the #MTKFightNight at the Ulster Hall and made an explosive start.

‘The Real Deal’ came into the fight surrounded by a large degree of hype and was slated to fight over six rounds.

However, the fight didn’t go past one. The fighter, with a good knockout record from a 161-5 amateur career- Team Donovan believe he registered 50 plus stoppages in the vest – is probably more noted for his style and unique skill set, yet all the talk will be about power post his debut win.

Donovan took just 76 seconds to ensure he had his hand raised.

The Andy Lee trained southpaw stopped Mexican Arthur Lopez with a left hook to the temple.

The cleanly executed left hook sent the Spain based journey man to the canvas and he never recovered.

In fact it took some time before he was helped to his stool, where he was checked by the doctors and given oxygen. Thankfully he left the ring on his own to feet and showing no ill effects of the punch.

You can watch the stoppage below:

The Top Rank fighter will return to the ring as early as next month, when he fights on an #MTKFightNight in Glasgow on November 16.
