Webb pulls out of Quinn clash – exciting all Irish fight off Celtic Clash 9 card

One of the more intriguing match ups on the stacked Celtic Clash 9 card has been pulled.

Stephen Webb versus Martin Quinn was possibly the fight of the undercard, but is no more.

Belfast’s Webb has been forced to pull out of the clash through injury.

The John Breen trained fighter fractured his nose in camp and as a result won’t appear on the undercard of Joe Fitzpatrick’s eagerly anticipated BUI Celtic title clash with Iago Barros.

It remains unsure whether or not a late replacement can be found for Dubliner ‘Mighty’ Quinn, but fans will be disappointed not to see him fight Webb.

Quinn has been a real servant to the sport in his short stint as a pro. If he would have fought Webb at the Devenish this weekend, he would have had more all Irish fights than journey men bouts on his growing record.

He has traded leather with fellow Dubliner’s Karl Kelly and Francy Luzoho and also has a win over bill topper Barros. He was hoping to use Saturday as a springboard toward domestic title tilts.

It was an equally important fight for Webb considering he lost a local derby to Fitzpatrick last time out. The St James’ fighter was keen to return to winning ways against a relatively noteworthy name.

The card still provides plenty of entertainment and won’t be lacking in terms of action.

An interesting bout between recent Irish title challenger Stephen McAfee and Kelvin McDonald possibly takes undercard centre stage now, but the clash between Sean McGlinchey and Julio Cesar aswell as the Conor Cooke and Cork Pole Staz Tomasevski might rival it.

Two members of an intriguing light middleweight division Eddie Treacy and Dominic Donegan also appear, as do a duo hoping to inspire a Sligo revolution Aaron Gethins and James Lynch.

The stack card will also be populated by Owen O’Neill, Conor Doherty and Tony McGylnn.
