Happy as Andy Ruiz – Wells all smiles ahead of Paddy Gallagher fight
Either Liam Wells [5(2)-0] is doing his best Andy Ruiz impression or he is genuinely as excited as can be about his upcoming fight with Paddy Gallagher [15(9)-5].
Just like the new unified heavyweight world champion the former kickboxing world champion is beaming in the build up to what is a massive breakthrough chance for him.
The Choir Boy’ has impressed since turning over and has a massive chance to announce himself as a genuine prospect on the #MTKFightNight in Belfast on June 21.
Wells takes on the entertaining Belfast fighter and noted puncher in just his sixth fight and is beyond excited knowing what a win could do for his career.
As he prepares to take a huge step up from his entertaining victory over Jumanne Camero at York Hall last time out, Wells is brimming with enthusiasm ahead of his second eight-round fight.
“I wake up excited. I have a big smile on my face going to training. My trainer believes in me completely and that makes me feel so good.
“Paddy Gallagher is a very good fighter and I’m honoured to be facing him in just my sixth fight. I watched his last bout and I’m just very excited to be taking him on,” Wells explained.
“It’s crazy how quickly this has all happened. I’m proud of myself but I’ve got to thank my team for taking me on this journey.
“It’s amazing to be fighting on ESPN+. It’s a great buzz and I’m so thrilled to have the chance to perform for an American audience.”
Alongside Gallagher vs. Wells on a stacked Belfast bill is a WBC International super-lightweight title showdown between Tyrone McKenna and Darragh Foley and a WBO European light-heavyweight title clash between Steven Ward and Liam Conroy.
Several of the leading local boxing talents will compete for exposure on the undercard; including the likes of Lewis Crocker, Taylor McGoldrick and Caoimhin Agyarko.
