A number of fighters have been turning heads in 2018 and below we have picked our Top 5 prospects that are yet to box in a ten or twelve round contest.
This award is named after the late Eamonn Magee Jr, himself a great prospect taken from us too soon.
Prospect of the Year
Gary Cully
Following easy points wins over Pal Olah and Reynaldo Cajina, the Kildare lightweight then had a statement third-round stoppage win over Jordan Ellison before blowing away Mohammed Kambuluta inside a round.
Sean McComb
The Turf Lodge lightweight only debuted in August but has already racked up five wins including a particularly impressive domination of Hungarian dangerman Zoltan Szabo earlier this month.
Padraig McCrory
The St James’s super middle scored a viral KO over Manny Bique to start the year before a tough win over the game Harry Matthews, a sensational short-notice triumph over Sean McGlinchey, and an early stoppage over Gabor Detre.
Aaron McKenna
The teenage Monaghan welter has been steadily building in California this year, notching five wins including four stoppages on Golden Boy cards
Victor Rabei
The Dublin-Moldova light welter scored a stoppage over Mark Morris in his maiden all-Irish fight before defeating Karl Kelly in cracker to win the BUI Celtic title and then destroying Antonio Horvatic inside a round live on TG4.
