Josh Warrington v Carl Frampton – UNDERCARD COMPLETE
The undercard for Carl Frampton‘s next world title challenge has been completed today with the addition of a world champion.
Frampton challenges IBF featherweight champion HJosh Warrington at the Manchester Arena on Saturday December 22nd in what will be the first domestic BT Sport Box Office event.
It has been confirmed this afternoon that recent WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders will make his return on the card after being stipped of his title.
Saunders is listed to face Hungarian journeyman Zoltan Sera [32(22)-17(3)-1] in what will be one of 13 undercard fights.
The main undercard fights are as follows:
Four-time world title challenger Martin Murray [37(17)-4(1)-1] takes on Cameroonian contender Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam [32(21)-3(1)].
In a vacant British middleweight title fight, Mark Heffron takes on Welshman Liam Williams [18(13)-2(1)-1] who is stepping up from light middle.
Nantwich heavyweight Nathan Gorman [14(11)-0] defends his WBC International Silver belt on the card. The Ricky Hatton-trained fighter goes in with former World title challenger Alex Leapai [32(26)-7(3)]
Belfast feather Mick Conlan [9(6)-0] will box his first British opponent as a pro, taking on former featherweight champ Jason Cunningham [24(6)-5(1)] in a bout which was believed to be for a title but this status remains to be confirmed.
Earlier on in the card, in his first fight since beating Ian Tims in June, Derby cruiser Jack Massey [14(7)-0] will box Czech veteran Jiri Svacna [13(2)-32(7)] in a six-rounder, Manchester light heavy Lyndon Arthur [12(9)-0] faces Cameroonian Emmaneul Feuzeu [10(4)-9(6)-2] in a six, while there is also a debut for heavyweight Tommy Fury, younger brother of Tyson, who takes on Latvian Jevgenijs Andrejevs [10(4)-102(13)-3].
Also set to appear in fights versus to-be-confirmed opposition, Cliftonville’s Paddy Barnes [5(1)-1(1)] returns from his WBC flyweight title loss during the Summer and Newtownabbey light heavy Steven Ward [9(3)-0] continues building while there are also slots for Sam Maxwell [9(7)-0], Danny Wright [10(4)-0], and Troy Williamson [7(5)-0-1].
While promoter Frank Warren said in October that Leeds flyweight Nicola Adams will feature on the bill, that no longer seems to be the case
