Celtic Clash 7 – Undercard Opponents Confirmed
The line-up for the Celtic Clash 7 undercard has been unveiled ahead of Saturday’s big fight night.
Jobstown duo Carl McDonald and Dylan McDonagh headline the bill in their vacant Irish super bantamweight title fight while there is also a six-round lightweight war between Martin Quinn and Karl Kelly as chief support.
In addition to this there will be an eight-fight undercard – along with a short set from Aslan legend Christy Dignam.
The eight undercard opponents have now been confirmed and there looks to be some tasty matches.
Bray light middleweight Eddie Treacy [1(1)-0] following a quick-fire debut last night looks to have a real fight on his hands. ‘The Honey Badger’ goes in with Belfast-Angolan Julio Cesar [1(0)-3(2)] who holds a significant size advantage.
Treacy faces ‘The Belfast Gladiator’ and Crumlin super feather Aiden Metcalfe [2(0)-0] is set to go in against ‘The Belfast Spartan’. Alec Bazza [0-38(6)-3] is hugely respected in the game for his game approach to fights and, just last week, gave Kelvin McDonald a tough debut.
In another good match, Crumlin welter Martin Wall [1(1)-0] goes up against Bulgarian veteran Radoslav Mitev [11(3)-43(16)-2] who will be facing his eleventh Irishman and second in the space of seven days. On Saturday gone Mitev went four rounds with Belfast’s Tony Nellins – a prospective future opponent of Wall – and it will be interesting to see the comparisons here.
Sallynoggin’s Stephen McAfee [4(2)-0-1] was due to face Feargal McCrory for the Irish super featherweight title until the Tyrone man’s unfortunate withdrawal with injury but ‘Showtime’ remains on the bill. McAfee takes on physically-larger Pole Michael Krawczyk [1(0)-0], a good kickboxer who has recently transitioned to boxing, over six rounds.
In another six rounder, Stillorgan middle Cillian Reardon [3(0)-0] faces Bangor’s Casey Blair [5(1)-47(11)] who gave Taylor McGoldrick a real scare in his last all-Irish fight.
Having seen a fight fall through at the last minute last month, Lynn Harvey [4(3)-1(0)] will take on her previously intended opponent Kitti Kolompar [1(0)-4(2)] of Hungary who brought top French fighter Anne Sophia Da Costa the distance last time out.
Making her debut, Kerry-Limerick super feather Siobhán O’Leary goes in against Hungarian Klaudia Csaszar [1(1)-1(0)-1] who enters off the back of a first round stoppage in her homeland last month and has also gone the full six rounds with top Italian lightweight prospect Sara Corazza.
Finally there is Keane McMahon [4(1)-0]. The Smithfield welter suffered a family bereavement earlier this month but bravely remains on the card. ‘The Iceman’ will face Bulgarian Serguey Stefanov [1(0)-7(6)].
