Comeback confirmed – at last – for Chris Blaney
Chris Blaney [10(3)-1(0)] will finally make his return to the ring next month.
The Meath middleweight lost for the first time in his career back in February when he was eliminated in the semi-finals of Ireland’s Last Man Standing by eventual runner-up Jack Cullen.
While it was not a debilitating defeat by any means, Blaney’s comeback was delayed by an eye injury which required surgery to rectify.
This evening, at last, a comeback date has been confirmed for the 26-year-old Irish title chaser.
‘The Ginja Ninja’ will now return to the ring on Saturday November 24th as part of the Boxing Ireland Promotions and Tony Davitt Promotions ‘Celtic Clash 7‘ bill at Good Counsel GAA club in Drimnagh.
Blaney will box in a six round contest on the small hall bill.
The Navan man had been called out by JJ McDonagh for an all-Irish clash on the Assassin Boxing Mayo show on December 7th but Blaney has stated that this is a fight for next year while also expressing his desire to face Thomas Finnegan.
The card next month is set to feature Irish title fights at bantamweight between Carl McDonald and Dylan McDonagh and at super featherweight between Feargal McCrory and Stephen McAfee as well as a six-round war between Martin Quinn and Karl Kelly. Also due to appear are Martin Wall, Eddie Treacy, Siobhan O’Leary, Kevin Cronin, and Keane McMahon.
