American boost for Carl Frampton ahead of Josh Warrington World Title fight

Carl Frampton‘s World title challenge this December will available to American eyes.

The Belfast featherweight takes on IBF champ Josh Warrington at the Manchester Arena on Saturday December 22nd in a clash that will be shown live in the UK and Ireland on BT Sport Box Office at a cost of £16.95/€19.95.

Frampton, looking to claim his fourth world title belt, has featured on U.S. screens frequently over the past few years from CBS Sports for Alejandro Gonzalez to Showtime for the Scot Quigg and Leo Santa Cruz fights as well as live-streaming of his more recent bouts.

The Warrington fight, too, will be live streamed as ESPN, last night, confirmed that the card will be available to U.S. viewers via the ESPN+ app.

The $5-a-month subscription service has upwards of 1,000,000 signed up and recently a deal was struck between Frank Warren and the platform to show a select number of Queensberry cards.

The first of these was on Saturday just gone at the Leicester Arena which was beset by early teething problems which are hoped will be sorted by December 22nd.

The news that Frampton will appear on ESPN would seem to suggest that ‘The Jackal’ is no longer advised by U.S. boxing mogul Al Haymon who has been closely aligned to the Showtime network and recently signed a major deal with Fox.

In addition to ESPN+ showing the fights, Top Rank boss Bob Arum will also be in attendance. The veteran promoter is in charge of the career of another Belfast featherweight, Mick Conlan.

The Christmas card is currently being finalised, with undercard bouts for Nicola Adams and Nathan Gorman being confirmed alongside a British middleweight title fight between champion Jason Welborn and Mark Heffron.

Frampton flew out to America today to continue training camp and support team-mate Tommy Coyle who boxes on the big DAZN show in Boston next Saturday night [October 20th].
