Goulding scores goal of the round, but Home Farm can’t hit cup gold against Cork
FAI Senior Cup
Home Farm-1
Cork City-5
They scored the goal of the day, possibly the round, but Home Farm ultimately hadn’t enough to cause one of the biggest ever shocks in FAI Cup history on Saturday.
Sean Goulding gave the LSL Senior 1 side something to celebrate with a strike to remember but reigning champions Cork City ran out comfortable enough winners at Whitehall.
The Leesiders put five past their amateur counterparts and got their defence off to a nigh on perfect start.
All the goals came in the first half. Cork were four to the good by 30 minutes thanks to a goal from Josh Hanlon, two from Ronan Coughlan and a finish Barry McNamee.
Goulding then produced a moment of magic finishing from half way to reduce the arrears. The front man picked up a lose pass from the back spotted the keeper off the line and finished from over 40 yards.
Kieran Sadlier did manage to restore the four goal cushion before the turn but only after Home Farm had a chance to get back within one.

Considering such a wide margin at the break and the fact LOI sides had finished strong in the majority of the non league versus league clashes this weekend there were fears of a Derry City Blarney style score line among supporters at the break.
However, the second half passed without real goal mouth incident and the second tier LSL side went 45 minutes without conceeding.
