Nathan Gorman looking past ‘Big Sexy’ toward fights with Joe Joyce and Daniel Dubois

He has a big-hitting ‘Big Sexy’ heavyweight challenge to overcome but Nathan Gorman [12(10)-0] is already plotting big English domestic clashes and has expressed his desire to trade leather with some of the other emerging talents at the weight.

The 21-year-old faces Dublin’s Sean Turner [12(8)-2(0)] tomorrow night on the Tyson Fury comeback undercard and – much to the Shankill fighter’s displeasure – Gorman is already looking ahead to fights with Commonwealth champion and Olympic silver medallist Joe Joyce and Queensberry stablemate Daniel Dubois.

“With Hughie Fury saying he intends to vacate, I hope to fight either Dubois or Joyce for the British title this year,” stated Gorman ahead of his eight-rounder with Turner.

“I know promoters go on about letting these ‘super fights’ build but, at the end of the day, it’d be the prestigious British heavyweight title on the line and every prospect wants to own that, surely? Honestly, I’d fight either of them tomorrow.”

“I believe that I stand out over Daniel and Joe because I’m the full boxing package, I can box, fight, bang, move, I’ve got extremely fast hands and I know I can do 10 or 12 rounds at a good clip.”

The Ricky Hatton-trained youngster is looking to put on a big performance versus Turner to stand-out in relation to his domestic rivals.

Gorman outlined how “I relax and try to repeat the form I produce in the gym every day”

“It’s a privilege to be involved in a potential 18,000 sell out – the return of the former unbeaten world heavyweight champion, in his home city – and for me to be in such a challenging fight; potentially the toughest of my career. It’s a huge platform and I intend to turn a few heads.”

“Over the last six months or so I’ve become far more professional. I’m living a far clearer life outside the gym; dieting properly, sleeping right…You can’t cut corners and there’s no room for excuses.”
