Unbelievable Undercard confirmed for Mick Conlan homecoming
The undercard has been announced for Mick Conlan‘s big homecoming bill and it looks to be one of the best ever held in Ireland.
Olympic bronze medallist and World amateur champion Conlan [6(5)-0] returns home to Belfast on Saturday June 30th at the SSE Odyssey Arena for his first pro fight on Irish soil and a press conference to launch to the bill took place this afternoon at the Europa Hotel.
An opponent for Top Rank’s Conlan was not confirmed today – with the Falls Road featherweight still having a fight with Ibon Larrinaga on May 12th in New York to get through – however a stunning undercard was revealed.

In a rematch of the 2014 Irish Fight of the Year, Jono Carroll [15(2)-0] and Declan Geraghty [17(4)-2(1)] will lock horns once again. The Dublin super featherweight southpaw pair had been set to rematch last November but Geraghty, who lost the first bout via fourth-round disqualification, was forced to pull out via injury.
Carroll subsequently scored an eye-catching win over Mexican replacement Humberto De Santiago while Geraghty recently had a career-best win over former King Kong opponent Johnny Quigley. Finglas-Dunshaughlin fighter Carroll was then due to face Marco McCullough last month but was forced to pull out with a cut

Another grudge match will see Dubliner Phil Sutcliffe Jr [14(9)-2(1)] finally face Belfast’s Tyrone McKenna [16(6)-0-1] at light welter.
Following some testy back-and-forths, the pair were due to fight on the Frampton-Donaire undercard last month only for Sutcliffe to pull out with a knee injury. McKenna subsequently defeated Anto Upton over ten rounds – his third all-Irish win following stoppages versus Sean Creagh and Jake Hanney.

A surprising and intriguing match-up will then see Belfast welter Paddy Gallagher [13(8)-4(0)] take on London-Connacht fighter Gary Corcoran [17(7)-2(2)].
Only just last weekend Gallagher put in a gallant performance, losing an extremely close fight to hot favourite Brad Solomon in the quarter-finals of the WBC José Sualimán Invitational in Kentucky. Now, just nine weeks later, he will face recent World title challenger Corcoran who was stopped last time out in the eleventh round of a game showing versus WBO champ Jeff Horn in Brisbane

Also on the card – although confirmed before the press conference today – Derry super bantamweight Tyrone McCullagh [10(6)-0] will face Glasgow’s Joe Ham [14(5)-0] for the vacant BBBoC Celtic title in a bout which will also be a British title eliminator.

The big undercard will also feature a fight between British light welters Johnny Coyle and Lewis Benson.
