‘It’s not a f’ing fight’- Arum addresses ‘nonsense’ McGregor Pacquiao talk
Bob Arum has rubbished talk of a possible fight between Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor in a manner only he can.
There were suggestions from ‘Pac Man’ that tentative talks re a meeting between the UFC champion-who is ranked sixth at light middle in the Irish rankings– and the boxing legend had taken place.
However, the promoter of the eight weight World champion poured cold water on the purported bout.
“It’s total nonsense,” said the American promoter when asked whether the fighter he has worked with for 15 years would become the second boxer to trade leather with the UFC star.
“If there is such a fight, Pacquiao or any other boxer would give McGregor a beating. But there are no negotiations right now. McGregor is still spending the money that he earned from the fight with Mayweather. It’s old news.”
Arum, who promotes future star Michael Conlan, also suggested if a match up he claims would be a spectacle rather than a fight was made Pacquiao would do damage early.
“Guess what… It’s not a fucking fight. If you want a spectacle, you can watch it. One thing you can be sure of, Manny wouldn’t carry the guy like the other guy [Mayweather] did.
