“I never slip up or panic in situations like that” – Debut knockdown no problem for Prince Brady

Prince Brady [1(0)-0] had only been a pro for a few seconds and found himself on the canvas.

The London-based Dublin bantamweight suffered a flash knockdown in the opening stages of his debut, but rebounded well to overcome dangerous Swedish journeyman Edward Bjorklund.

Brady won a four-round points (38-37) decision at the York Hall in London, and was happy with the learning experience.

The confident Skerries character took the knockdown in his stride and didn’t panic, telling Irish-Boxing.com how “I’ve always got a grip, I never slip up or panic in situations like that.”

“I know myself and I know what I’m capable of doing – ask your maths teacher I got more angles than a protractor and, honestly. I had control throughout the fight.”

“I live for situations like this, exciting, unthinkable predicaments. You’ll see what I mean as time goes on but I really learned a lot from my first time.”

“You know, life and experience are the best teachers and it sure showed me that!”

Looking back on the contest, Brady described how “the fight went really well in my eyes, I set it off like I was Queen Latifah.”

“It was emotional for my family and friends who came out to support me. I mentioned in the previous interviews that it was going very emotional as this a emotional sport, ‘you don’t play boxing’ should sum it up.”

“I did go toe to toe for a little bit, not that I had to, just for excitement I don’t have to prove anything to anyone as long as I please myself, I am blessed.”

“I am determined to win by any cost That’s why I tag everything #everybelt on my socials. I want my message to be clear to the division from the beginning.”

The whole debut experience has yet to sink in for the Goodwin fighter, who admitted that “I still don’t know how to describe as of yet – I’m just cruising so far as I don’t know what’s ahead.”

“I’m taking my time making the right adjustments and if I’m not feeling comfortable with something I remove myself from that equation right away. Time will tell as from right now I’m taking one day at a time.”

“One thing I did enjoy was the atmosphere, the crowd, and the respect I got when I walked out into the ring. It showed people are being very supportive of me and I’m well thankful for each and every one of them.”

An accomplished recording artist, the former Bracken amateur will be return to Ireland for his music before restarting his title chase in 2018.

Zimbabwean-born Brady outlined how “my plan is to go to Belfast on new years – make sure the belts are nice and polished RB [Ryan Burnett] for when I come up – I also have a rap show booked.”

“I’ll get that out of the way, come back to England, and continue pursuing.”
