Irish boxing club nominated for European award


An Offaly boxing club are up for a major award with the European Boxing Confederation.

St Brigid’s Edenderry have been nominated in one of the categories of the inaugural Passion for Boxing Awards

The EUBC describe how “the Passion for Boxing Awards are a new and exciting opportunity for grassroots boxing projects to showcase the fantastic work they are doing and to be recognised for their achievements and contribution to society.”

St Brigid’s have been nominated for the General Inclusion Award along with eight other clubs across the continent.

The nomination is for their All Female International Sparring Camp which took place at the end of November.

The week-long event, organised by Liam Brereton, was the biggest ever non-competition gathering of female boxers and featured over 100 boxers from nine countries across five rings.

Winners will be announced on EUBC YouTube official channel on Sunday November 12th, with €250 going to each winner.
