Ireland name team for European Junior Championships
The Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA) have named a 13-strong team for the European Men’s Junior Championships this month in Albena, Bulgaria.
Ireland will be represented at every weight class at the Black Sea city
The team is made up of the champions from the Senior Cadet Championships in July and features fighters from clubs in Dublin, Antrim, Cork, Westmeath, Kildare, Sligo, Limerick, Kerry, Tyrone, and Louth.
Brandon McCarthy, a European Schoolboys silver medalist, and Callum Walsh will box at the under-16s championships for the second year in a row, while the team also features European Schoolboys gold medalist William Hayden in his first year in the category. In addition, Gavin Rafferty, Mikey Stokes, and Jake Tucker all also have major international tournament experience.
